Montepulciano and Nobile Wine

This is a wine region located in the south part of Tuscany between the rolling hills of the Valdorcia and the agricultural fields of the Valdichiana.

Montepulciano is a magnificent hilltop town rising from the volcanic hill at the impressive altitude of 2000 feet.

Etruscan in origins, medieval in its architectural impact and Renaissance adorned by the Medici of Florence who used it as home base to control the immense area on the borders with Umbria region.

Since the '90 the town and its surroundings have been the setting for popular movies and tv shows such as "The English Patient", "Twilight" and the series dedicated to the Medici family.

Montepulciano's popularity increased over the last years as a fine wines region where another old clone of Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile) is grown since the XVI° century by the noble families and it is used to produce Nobile di Montepulciano traditionally served to the Popes.

This Tuscan wine region gives a great combination of small family style wineries, elegant and artistic wineries along with the old historically cellars located in the downtown where the common denominator is the production of an elegant red wine going from being a meditation wine up to a strong, gamy food, cheeses oriented wine.
