The areas are the Valdimerse and the Valdelsa which are less touristy but loved by Italians and locals: take the chance to visit the roofless church of San Galgano and the sword in the rock, then enjoy the fortress of Monteriggioni where restaurants, cafes and gelato shops are waiting for you and after lunch visit the hamlet of Colle Alta, the medieval hilltop side of Colle Valdelsa where something like 700 families still live there and where the famous architect Arnolfo di Cambio was born before moving into Florence and project some of the most important Florentine buildings.

Most likely your day will start with a pick up at your location between 8:30 or 9:00.
At least one hour and half drive will lead you to the charming San Galgano Abbey and Montesiepi chapel where you will be able to see frescoes painted by the famous Sienese artist Lorenzetti as well as you will be able to take a real pic of the "sword in the rock" protected in the dome-shaped church.
After you will go down the valley to visit the roofless church, the best example of french gothic style in the countryside.
Lunch time can be spent in the medieval fortress of Monteriggioni where you can eat a local trattoria and then have a easy stroll around the walled fortress full of tiny shops and cafes.
The day will go on with the afternoon spent walking in the medieval village of Colle Valdelsa Alta.
The adventure starts by taking the elevator taking you through a tunnel up to the hill from where you will enjoy an amazing view of the valley and of the Chianti Classico hills.
Most likely you will see some artisans working fine glass and if you wish you can visit yourself the unique museum of fine glass or go into one of the local shops to learn more about this local product.
